Learning Outcomes

Basic Concepts in Immunology

Principles of Innate and Adaptive Immunity

Adaptive Immune Response

Lymphoid Organs

Effector Mechanism of T-Cells

Lesson Summary

This module presents the role of the Immune System in defending against the threat of Pathogens. You will learn about the components of the Immune System that play a significant role in both Innate as well as Adaptive Immunity and the role of T Cells in orchestrating cell-mediated immunity and regulating the responses of B Cells to Antigens.

Innate Immunity

Inflammatory Response

Adaptive Immunity

Humoral Immunity

Effector Mechanisms

This module presents the features of Adaptive and Innate Immune Systems. You will learn about the process of mediating the Inflammatory Response, activation of various cells, and the role of Effector Molecules in destroying the Pathogens.

First Course Assessment

Structure of Antibody

Antigen Recognition by T-Cells

Primary Immunoglobulin Gene Rearrangement

Rearrangement of V, D, and J Gene Segments

Enzymatic Mechanisms in V-Region Rearrangement

T-Cell Receptor Gene Rearrangement

This module presents the structure of Antibody Molecules and the generation of Antibody Diversity. You will learn about the composition of protein chains in Immunoglobulin molecules and the rearrangement process of the Primary Immunoglobulin Gene and T-Cell Receptors.

Structural Variation in Immunoglobulin Constant Regions

Structural Variation and Isotype Switching

MHC Molecules and Peptides

Antigen Recognition by T-Cell Receptors

This module presents the properties of the human Immunoglobulin Isotypes and Antigen Recognition by T-Cell Receptors. You will learn how the CD4 and CD8 cell-surface proteins of T-Cells, directly contact the MHC molecules to make an effective response to the Antigen.

Major Histocompatibility Complex

Alloreactivity and Superantigens

Antigen Presentation

Antigen Processing

Summary of the Immune System

This module presents the Generation of α:β T-Cell Receptor Ligands. You will learn about the functions of the Major Histocompatibility Complex, the process of generating Peptides from the Ubiquitinated proteins, and the Cessation of antigen processing in dendritic cells through the reduced expression of the MARCH-1 E3 ligase.

Second Course Assessment
